MEET CHEF PAPE & IBU

SENEGALESE CUISINE

Chef Pape and Ibrahima (better known as Ibu) have been friends for many years, but different paths lead them to cooking Senegalese food in Utah. While Ibu has been in Utah for 20+ years, Chef Pape first moved to the United States 12 years ago.

Chef Pape had always been passionate about cooking, but it was in New York that he developed his professional skills, working at several restaurants in the city that never sleeps.

Chef Pape and Ibu dreamed of opening their own restaurant together. With Chef Pape’s culinary talent, Ibu’s business acumen and the fire they felt when they were working together, they knew it was something that had to happen.

Three years ago, Chef Pape moved to Utah to rejoin his friend, Ibu, and make this dream a reality. They now own an operate the food truck “Balabe” and hope to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant soon.

And the single most exciting thing for both Chef Pape and Ibu about cooking? The excitement they see on peoples face when they try their food– especially people who have never tried Senegalese food before!
